Community Guidelines
Last updated: April 30, 2026
1. Introduction
Questr is a weekly video challenge app for close friend groups. Every day, one member of your group takes on a fun challenge, films it, and shares it with friends. At the end of each week, group reactions determine who takes on a bonus forfeit quest.
These Community Guidelines exist to keep Questr a fun, safe, and welcoming place for everyone. They apply to all content shared on the App, including videos, chat messages, profile information, and group names.
By using Questr, you agree to follow these guidelines. If you see something that breaks them, report it -- we take every report seriously.
2. Content Standards
We encourage content that is:
- Creative -- Find clever and original ways to complete your challenges
- Funny -- The best quest completions make your friends laugh
- Good-spirited -- Friendly competition, not mean-spirited humiliation
- Safe -- If you would not do it with a parent watching, think twice
- Inclusive -- Content that everyone in your group can enjoy
The best Questr content is entertaining, lighthearted, and something you would be comfortable showing to anyone.
3. Prohibited Content
The following types of content are strictly prohibited on Questr. Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent termination.
- Nudity and sexual content: Explicit sexual content, nudity, or content that sexualises any person
- Content involving minors: Any sexual or exploitative content involving minors. This will be reported to relevant authorities immediately.
- Violence and harm: Graphic depictions of real violence, content that glorifies self-harm or suicide, or content that encourages dangerous activities
- Hate speech: Content that attacks or dehumanises individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin
- Harassment and bullying: Targeted harassment, threats, intimidation, or doxxing of any individual
- Illegal activity: Content that depicts, promotes, or solicits illegal activity
- Spam and manipulation: Coordinated inauthentic behaviour, fake accounts, or repeated unsolicited contact
- Intellectual property infringement: Content that infringes copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights
4. Prohibited Challenge Activities
Questr challenges are designed to be fun and safe. The following activities are never acceptable when completing a challenge, regardless of whether the challenge itself seems to invite them:
- Ingesting harmful, toxic, or non-food substances
- Activities at dangerous heights or involving intentional falling
- Activities near or involving traffic, railways, or moving vehicles
- Activities involving fire, explosives, or pyrotechnics
- Water submersion, breath-holding, or choking activities
- Use of weapons, knives, or power tools in an unsafe manner
- Physical confrontation, fighting, or assault
- Deliberate property damage or vandalism
- Trespassing or illegal entry into restricted areas
- Activities requiring medical or professional training
- Any activity involving drugs or excessive alcohol consumption
- Any activity that could cause injury to children or animals
If a challenge feels unsafe, skip it. Your safety is always more important than a score. You can always find a creative, safe interpretation of any challenge.
5. Recording and Consent
When recording video for Questr, you must:
- Get consent from everyone in the video. Before you hit record, make sure anyone who will be identifiable in the footage has agreed to be filmed and to have the video shared within your group.
- Respect privacy. Do not film people without their knowledge or in situations where they have a reasonable expectation of privacy (for example, in bathrooms, changing rooms, or private homes without the occupant's consent).
- Follow local filming laws. Do not record in locations where filming is prohibited, such as certain businesses, government buildings, or private property where you do not have permission.
- Consider bystanders. If strangers appear in your video, make sure they are not the focus and are only incidentally captured. If someone asks you to stop filming, stop.
6. Reporting
If you see content that violates these guidelines, please report it.
How to report
- Videos: Tap the report button on any video
- Chat messages: Long-press the message and select "Report"
- Profiles: Tap the report option on any user's profile
- Groups: Use the report option in group settings
What happens next
- Our moderation team reviews the report, typically within 24 hours
- If the content violates our guidelines, we take enforcement action (see Section 7)
- The reporter's identity is never shared with the person being reported
- You may receive a notification confirming the outcome of your report
False or abusive reporting (for example, repeatedly reporting someone's content out of personal dislike rather than a genuine policy violation) is itself a violation of these guidelines.
Copyright takedowns
Copyright owners can reach Questr's DMCA designated agent at nick@questr.tv. Full procedure (including counter-notice rights) is in our Terms of Service, Section 4.4. ViralCow LTD's listing in the U.S. Copyright Office's DMCA Designated Agent Directory: https://dmca.copyright.gov/dmca/publish/history.html?search=ViralCow&id=a0b376584ce1309b743eb5fd8fffb7a8 (Registration No. DMCA-1072133, effective 30 April 2026).
Child safety reporting
Suspected child sexual exploitation material is reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline within 24 hours of identification, per 18 U.S.C. § 2258A. UK reports are mirrored to the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF). Detection and handling are documented in our public CSAM handling procedure (docs/legal/csam-handling.md).
7. Enforcement
We enforce these guidelines through a graduated system. The severity of the response depends on the nature and frequency of the violation.
Enforcement actions
- Warning: A notification explaining which guideline was violated and how to avoid future violations. First-time minor offences typically receive a warning.
- Content removal: The offending video, message, or profile content is removed from the App.
- Temporary suspension: Your account is temporarily restricted. During a suspension, you cannot post videos, send messages, or react to content. Suspension length depends on severity (typically 24 hours to 7 days).
- Permanent ban: Your account is permanently terminated and you may not create a new account. Reserved for severe violations (such as content involving minors, credible threats of violence) or repeated violations after prior warnings.
Immediate action
Some violations are serious enough to warrant immediate content removal and account termination without prior warning. These include:
- Sexual or exploitative content involving minors
- Credible threats of real-world violence
- Content that poses an imminent risk of physical harm
- Distribution of non-consensual intimate imagery
8. Appeals
If you believe a moderation decision was made in error, you can appeal.
How to appeal
Send an email to nick@questr.tv with the subject line "Moderation Appeal" and include:
- Your Questr username
- A description of the content or action you are appealing
- Why you believe the decision was incorrect
What happens next
- Appeals are reviewed by a different moderator than the one who made the original decision
- We aim to respond to appeals within 48 hours
- The appeal decision is final
